(Part 21)  133; Speaking of the Odds

The Warriors start to  a troop-mover, but are redirected by a deck-officer to move to the Launch Section and Prepare to Launch.
Captain Apollo differs with the Deck Officer in that he has information that might be of value to the Bridge.
The Deck Officer shrugs it off and tells the Captain to file a report, he is just doing what he has been ordered to by the Bridge. And the Bridge wants the maximum number of Pilots loaded into their Vipers at this specific micronal moment.
The Warriors have to fight the stresses of the Galactica rebuilding to Flank as they ready themselves and climb into their Vipers.
As the Viper-ships are being ferried to and loaded into the proper Launch tubes, Leiutenat Starbuck coms up a jest, "Fortunately for us, we came dressed for the Occasion."
Boomer is heard to say over his com, "Finally, I get to Drive."
"Why back in our Vipers so soon?" Starbuck asks a bit rhetorically.
Captain Apollo answers anyways, "They are saying that we will be needing every Viper and every Pilot that we can put on Launch. The Galactica will be sending in both Squadrons."
Starbuck raises another question, "They want Gunn that badly?
"Are you sure that it's Gunn that we're going after?" Captain Apollo wants to know.
Boomer coms in, "Sure, with certain Pilots, their flight technuique is as distinct as their signature."
"And we are using a Battlestar and two Squadrons of Vipers to get at Gunn, but" Leiutenat Starbuck continues, "He's not worth it."
"You're handicapping Starfighter Pilots?" Apollo asks.
"Well sometimes, in the Ready Room when we have long Calls, once in a while we get to figuring certain Pilot's relative merits and strengths," Starbuck says, "And like Gunn, well, he might be worth a BattleStar and a couple flights of fighters, or on his best day, maybe a BattleStar and half of a Squadron, but a full BattleStar and two Squadrons? That's asking a bit much."
"Really?" Captain Apollo asks, "And so, speaking of the odds, what would the weighted strengths be on say, myself?"
   There is a certain hesitation.
Finally Starbuck speaks up cautiously, "Well, Captain, you'd be figured a bit, ahm, differently."
"Differently, in what way?" Captain Apollo is asking, "In terms of BaseStars and Raiders? Okay, so tell me my weighted strengths and measures in terms of BaseStars and Raiders."
   More hesitation.
Finally the Leiutenat replies, "Can't tell you on that."
"Why not, might I ask," the Captain inquires.
"Well, I've never been able to get a straight quote on the odds," Leiutenat Starbuck admits.
   "Say What?" Apollo is surprised.
   "Your Father Commands the Galactica,"
"True, but what bearing does that have on me?" Apollo wants to be informed.
"Well there, you see, the Fix is in," Leiutenat Starbuck answers back in complete sincerity.
   "What??" Captain Apollo asks.
Leiutenat Boomer chuckles, "You asked," he grins.
